iPhone 15 & iPhone 15 Pro: Design, screen size, announcement date

iphone design

The original arrived in 2007, but rumors started swirling way back in late 2004. That backside was a two-tone affair with a band of black plastic along the bottom matching the iconic Apple branding up top and the edge-mounted buttons. Folk who splurged for the AT&T-exclusive handset may also recall the 3.5mm audio jack that only seemed to accept the included earbuds and not much else.

iOS Search

IOS has an OS-level “dark mode” setting, where participating apps have (generally) dark backgrounds and light text, instead of light backgrounds and dark text. The whole idea is that you have something resembling a list item, but it actually leads to another page where you pick the value. These controls can pick (a) just a time, (b) just a date, (c) both a time and a date, or (d) some other custom value. And there’s also a “spinner” style layout you can use (not pictured). Dates and times have a special light gray button treatment to signify that they’re special. But scrollable lists can be shown scrolling under the home indicator – and you can even select the item directly under the home indicator by tapping.

As was predicted by Kuo in March, the two iPhone 13 Pro models feature a 120Hz display. The number of hertz a phone screen is able to display refers to its number of frames per second, which determines how fast and smooth the screen feels when you're scrolling through apps and websites. The first “S” model iPhone offered iterative improvements rather than big new features. Apple said it was twice as fast as its predecessor, with the “S” standing for speed. It retained the same basic shape as earlier models, including a 3.5-inch, 480 x 320 display.

Apple GPU security flaw confirmed in iPhone 12 and M2 MacBook Air

He designed and develop every generation of the iPhone, which shows his unique skills of innovation. The design and development of iPhone is mostly done in the United States, especially in California, where the Apple headquarter is located. Finishing up with the iPhone 15's back panel, there are still some rumored changes here that may be hard to see but will still have an impact. When comparing the physical size of the iPhone 15 Pro to the 14 Pro, the new phone is thicker but narrower and shorter. This means that the iPhone 15 Pro fits in an iPhone 14 Pro case, but slides right out because of the smaller dimensions.

iPhone 15 design: Display

One of the flagship features of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro is support for 5G connectivity. There is support for mmWave 5G in the United States exclusively, and support for sub-6GHz 5G in other countries as well as in the U.S. This was changed to a glass screen ahead of the phone's launch on June 29. In 2017, Apple chief operating officer Jeff Williams described a last-minute dash to perfect the glass screen technology. The most comprehensive guide I could find besides this one on making human-readable iPhone app guidelines (besides this one 😉). Everything the user should be able to tap on – every button, every slider, every input control – should be at least 44x44 pts in size.

While the company disagrees with the accusations, other European countries seem to agree with France. Amid this situation, Apple has reportedly asked its employees to keep quiet about the radiation levels of the iPhone 12. A report of an Apple GPU security flaw has been confirmed by the company, acknowledging that the iPhone 12 and M2 MacBook Air are affected. Apple has secured special deals with Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon to offer the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 at $699/$799, respectively.

The design and development of the iPhone has a huge social impact, because they encourage innovation in the cell phone industry. The success of the iPhone by those people tells the cell phone industry how important innovation is. Before the release of iPhone, the cell phone market placed more emphasis on the configuration of the phone than its design.

Support

As well as making renders of rumored upcoming Apple products, they also made an AR render of Apple's VR headset that you could see placed on your desk. The design makes an important contribution to the preservation of the environment. It conserves resources and minimizes physical and visual pollution throughout the lifecycle of the product.

Apple sued in China for not including iPhone chargers in the box

Previously, there was also a report suggesting a new lens coating for iPhone 16 Pro models. We also expect the support of 8K video recording, however, it might be limited to the Pro models only. Moving to the display, Apple will stick with standard OLED screens for the iPhone 16 rather than the LTPO. This means that the non-Pro models will still have no ProMotion or always-on display. The vanilla iPhone 16 will stick to the 6.1-inch screen, and the Plus also gets the 6.7-inch screen like the previous generations. The iPhone 16 Pro gets a bigger 6.3-inch screen, compared to a 6.1-inch on the current model.

iphone design

The big one is the iPhone 15 Dynamic Island, which we're told is coming to standard and Pro models alike. As this was previously an iPhone 14 Pro-exclusive feature, it's welcome news for non-Pro iPhone buyers that they'll be able to use features like Live Activities more effectively. These units give us a good idea of what to expect in terms of overall size, changes to the camera module, updated buttons, and which port is being used. We got our hands on an exclusive set of mockup iPhone 15 units — complete with working buttons.

One small change, but one you may also notice easily when you handle the iPhone 15 itself, is repositioned buttons. One of the biggest is that we should get iPhone 15 USB-C port charging, instead of the familiar Lightning connector. This could bring faster charging and data transfer speeds to the iPhone 15 series, though possibly only to the Pro models.

With the iPhone 14, Apple is bringing a Max-sized screen to the non-pro line, making the size more affordable for those that don’t care for cutting-edge features (and prices). Both the 14 and 14 Plus introduce a higher resolution TrueDepth camera sensor, an upgraded main shooter, car crash detection, and emergency satellite communication. It’s also the first iPhone to completely drop the SIM card slot in favor of eSIM in the US.

When holding them both, the new phone feels smaller because of the size and the rounded bezels. We also compared the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max cameras. They appear to be physically identical, though new rumors suggested that the periscope lens will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The BYU Design Review is not pranking you today, but we did think it timely to take a break from our normal content and bring some smiles to our readers’ faces. I’ll dive a little deeper into how Apple uses each of these in their product design to entice and keep customers. All of the navigation was sorted via the phone's touchscreen, with a single -- and now easily recognizable -- "home" button on the front.

Heaven knows Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines are awful to try and read. The releases of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 is shaping up to be Apple's biggest OS refresh in a decade. On top of expected machine learning and AI advancements, the stock apps and overall look will be getting a makeover.

One non-obvious thing about how iOS apps do input controls is they’re almost all styled as list items. The nav bar is where the app displays navigation (surprise!), the page title, primary page actions, and – often – search. If you’re using a status bar on anything except the lightest of images, you’ll probably want to use white text. The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max contain a taller status bar with the camera and sensor area completely surrounded by screen pixels. Use the most common iPhone screen size for your audience, but if you have any dense, data-heavy screens, make sure to test those on smaller screen sizes. On this episode of the HomeKit Insider Podcast, we check out a new humidifier that uses moss, new Matter products, and Sonos' giant app update.

New 2021 Grand Design Reflection 150 Series 260RD Fifth Wheel at General RV North Canton, OH #226301

grand design 260rd

We never share your information at any time and generally only send one email per week. I am a writer and blogger and content producer who focuses on the RV space. I have a history as a content provider including having written the syndicated Curbside column about cars.

Product Inquiries:

Today’s RV review is of the Grand Design Reflection 150 Series 260RD. In some ways this review is different in that friends of mine bought this after we talked about various RVs that they were considering. I got to go see it yesterday and thought I’d share my thoughts with all of you. Tire-Linc now comes standard on all Reflections and connects to the Compass Connect App allowing you to monitor tire pressure and temperature. Experience the most advanced braking system for RVs on the market today.

Industry-first Anti-lock Braking System for Towables.

But they also installed a Lippert Solid Stance Step Stabilizer. To me this is the perfect entry step solution in an RV. The manufacturer of this trailer rates the hitch weight at 1,269 pounds. Our half-ton Ram 1500 has a cargo carrying capacity of roughly 1800 pounds. That leaves just 531 pounds of capacity for everything, including Peggy and I. For questions related to purchases made from the store (store.granddesignrv.com) please do not call Grand Design Customer Support.

Dec 28 Forest River Sunseeker 2550 Class C - space galore

grand design 260rd

These requirements may include fees, taxes, inspections, etc. Your local Canadian dealer is best equipped to handle these requirements. All standard features and specifications are subject to change. I didn’t catch this but my friends pointed out that there’s really not a lot of storage in the bathroom but then there’s that closet in the bedroom. There is a medicine cabinet over the toilet, though, so watch your noggin. The U-shaped dinette has a large table on a single pedestal mount and this table can swivel around.

I’ve noticed that a surprising number of owners of fifth wheels upgrade the suspensions within rather short order. A lot of people I know have also replaced the tires after experiencing their first flat. I think that’s something owners of this model won’t seek out - these are good bits indeed.

Bathroom

To add to this RV’s status as being well suited for entertaining, the kitchen is over in the front corner on the camp side. The solid counter top extends all the way along the camp side of the RV to the door. This would be a great situation for laying out some food for friends.

Refrigerator

Reflection’s design has been put to the test in extreme temperatures ranging from ZERO to 100+ degrees. Third party extreme cold testing showed that the Reflection remained functional and achieved very comfortable temperatures.

Dec 27 Grand Design Reflection 150 Series 260RD fifth wheel review

There is a nice amount of hanging space and drawer storage in the Grand Design 260RD. The optional 16 cubic foot 12 volt fridge has a lot fo space for your food. Grand Design has also gone to Goodyear Endurance trailer tires and a MorRyde CRE 3000 suspension system. Further, the trailer had a TST tire pressure monitoring system. This had somewhat traditional aluminum folding steps that have served we RVers very well for many years.

The tankless water heater is a product of Furrion which was acquired by Lippert. Lippert tends to be good at listening to customers and also working on developing solutions that work well. This also now comes with a tankless water heater system. I really like these as you’re not heating water until you actually need to. When you do then you could theoretically stand in the shower for an hour and not run out of hot water.

The overwhelming feeling I get in this trailer is of space. Further, know that not all half ton trucks are alike. With any trailer purchase, know the capabilities of the tow vehicle including cargo carrying.

I just don’t see the need to ever put another residential refrigerator in an RV ever again. Storage and counter space are really a strong suit of this floor plan. I really like the combination of Lippert's Solid Stance Step Stabilizers with the more traditional folding steps.

All warranty info is typically reserved for new units and is subject to specific terms and conditions. This website is a service provided by Netsource Media, the creators of RVUSA.com - Your Online RV Classifieds, to further customer knowledge of Grand Design units. However I really, really wish all RV companies would do a better job of educating people on the realities of towing these trailers.

It is also easy to lower to make the dinette into a bed. Like several RV manufacturers, Grand Design is marketing this unit specifically to owners of half-ton pickups. Honestly, the only fifth wheel I’d consider towing with a half-ton pickup is something like the Scamp 19 that we reviewed a while back. Quality and service are the backbones of our organization and we want to make sure that you are 100% satisfied with your purchase. In the rare case that your Grand Design unit may need servicing, we want the process to be as quick and painless as possible. Your local dealer is best able to prioritize your service needs.

I currently provide RV related content to a number of resources including RVTravel, Airstream Life, Girl Camper and more. Overall a really nice design with some solid improvements over previous years that I think will make my friends very happy campers. I liked this fifth wheel in theory when I saw it and liked it even more in practice when I got to walk around inside.

Custom Coolie and KOOZIE® KOOZIE® & Coolies; 100% USA Custom

design your own koozie

Want to make professional looking gifts that will last forever? Cricut Infusible Ink is the only way to go. Either way, you can make your own DIY koozies right at home using your Cricut machine. Start by cutting your design from the heat transfer vinyl of your choice using your Cricut machine. You will want to cut the design with the shiny side (carrier side) down on your mat (adhesive side up). Be sure to mirror the design before cutting.

Private Group Events

All designs need to be “attached” or the design will get separated. When using Adobe Illustrator to make designs, be sure to expand the text to make it into a shape. If it’s not thick enough, you will need to create an offset. For most iron-on vinyl, set the Easy Press to 280º for seconds. So, be sure to try to make your own koozie with your Cricut. Both of these methods will work with the Cricut Joy, Cricut Explore series, or the Cricut Maker machines so there really is no excuse not to try.

Add Your Logo To Custom Koozies

Sew all around the fabric with a quarter-inch seam allowance. As you reach the corner while you stitch, don’t break the seam. Just stop the needle in the down position, pivot, and keep sewing the next side. Also, cut out one piece of batting slightly smaller than the fabric – 10.5 x 4.5″ (26.5 x 11 cm). Cut out two rectangle pieces of fabric, one from the inner and one from the outer fabric. They should measure 11 x 5 inches (28 x 12.5cm) in size each.

What are koozies made of?

Keep it about a quarter-inch away from the edge. You will need to cut a three-and-a-half-inch strip of both hook and loop velcro. You can recognize the loop velcro by its roughness. This time, use a one-eighth of an inch seam allowance. Use the same method of sewing as you did previously, when you reach the corners, stop, pivot, and keep stitching.

These koozies are easy to make and I can’t wait to give them to him with a 6 pack of his favorite beer. Just be wary that the Infusible Ink may change color when added to colored koozies. But the results may be fun and they will definitely be a surprise. I did want you to note the color difference that comes from the Infusible Ink sheets. Did you know that you can make your own koozie with a Cricut and heat transfer vinyl or Infusible Ink? It is so easy to make custom koozies yourself right at home. This whole project started when I recently discovered that you can buy blank can koozies. They are colorful, inexpensive, and super easy to customize with heat transfer vinyl.

Blackstone Strikes $1 6 Billion Student Housing Deal With KKR

selling a house as is

Although marketing your home is a typical step in the home selling process, this step can be especially crucial when you’re selling your home as is. Depending on the house’s condition, your real estate agent may have to give the house some extra attention to draw in potential buyers. Or, your agent may tailor the marketing to buyers looking for “as is” properties. It’s hard to set a specific percentage on how much more, or less, you will make on an as-is sale versus fixing the home up before listing it.

Selling a House As-Is: A Simple (but Complete) Guide

He holds an MA in writing and covers a wide range of financial topics, including real estate, alternative investments, personal finance and more. Jonathan is committed to translating complex industry jargon into a readable, concise format that everyone can understand. You’ll be able to get an honest as-is price recommendation if it’s a real estate agent with a reputable track record. All you’re doing is providing potential buyers with the key information they want to know before they put an offer in writing. And the right listing agent can also make the as-is selling process much easier (and faster) than you think. The condition of your home plays a big role in how many potential buyers are interested in making an offer.

Media Services

Use HomeLight’s Simple Sale platform to sell when you’re ready without the hassle of paying for repairs, prepping for listing, or dealing with showings. According to Robert Taylor, a real estate investor and rehabber in Sacramento, California with 16 years of experience, you should avoid repairs that will only marginally increase your home’s value. He shares the formula that’s helped him keep his real estate transactions profitable. For example, if you know there’s a mold problem or a crack in the foundation, you’re legally obligated to inform the buyer. If you misrepresent the condition of the property, you can be held liable for any issues that arise.

Law took TikTok by surprise

You can still say no to their requests (which may lead to a decrease in what they’ll pay), but at least you’ll have people willing to look at the home and make an offer. Selling a house as-is can help it sell quickly in order to avoid foreclosure. In some cases, this results in a short sale, which is a complicated process that results in selling the home for less than it’s worth. The short sale process can be fairly quick, and if you’re working to avoid foreclosure, it’s likely that repairs will take too long and/or be too expensive. An old electrical panel, stained carpeting, and kitchen straight out of the ‘90s mean buyers won’t consider the house move-in ready or necessarily pay top dollar. But if you don’t have enough money or time to perform a bunch of work, you may rather just collect a decent sum and move on.

The multiple listing service (MLS) is the database real estate professionals use to share information about properties for sale. Real estate agents representing buyers can also access the MLS to share property information with their clients. When the listing expired and Batterman took over, she advised the seller to make minor improvements to the home instead of selling at its then-present state. The improvements cost $5,000 for staging, changing hardware and lighting, and painting.

selling a house as is

The information provided by Quicken Loans does not include all financial services companies or all of their available product and service offerings. Article content appears via license from original author or content owner, including Rocket Mortgage. Some states legally require you to give the buyer a seller’s disclosure report that shows buyers all the problems with your house ahead of time so they don’t try to back out of the deal later.

Additional precautions generally need to be taken when selling “as is”. An as-is offer usually closes faster than a traditional home sale because buyers often pay with cash. And interested buyers know those issues might become a problem for a lender. Securing an offer from a cash buyer means skipping the mortgage approval process and eliminating a time-consuming step in the home selling process. It’s important to note that you might not lose any money selling your house as is, however. If it’s a seller’s market, you could get multiple offers even if repairs or renovations are in order.

Options for selling a house as-is

Or they might just want to sell their house quickly and not have to deal with any repairs. Sometimes, that doesn’t matter and the buyer loves the place anyway. Other times, you’ll feel like your house is the kid who gets picked last in gym class. If Kim pays for those repairs, she’s going to spend $19,067—$1,567 more than the amount those repairs would add to her home’s value. So, if Kim paid for the repairs instead of selling her house as is, she’d actually lose money.

Current market trends

And a stale listing is an open invitation for a buyer to give you a lowball offer. They’ll look at the condition of those homes, compare it to yours, and then factor in the amount of work (and time) that would be needed if they were to buy your house. Potential buyers are going to compare your home to other homes that have recently sold. Highlight unique features, brag about the prime location, or discuss the potential for buyers to add their personal flair.

Yes, rehabbing your home will cost money upfront, but the investment in your home might fetch a higher price when you sell. The renovations that typically increase your home’s value include replacing your HVAC system, exterior siding and windows and updating kitchens and bathrooms. In most states, a buyer can walk away from a sale if they see or discover something they don’t like from a home inspection. If the purchase agreement includes an inspection contingency, the buyer can walk away from the deal after notifying the seller in writing before the inspection period ends. Another option is to consult with a top-rated real estate agent with experience in as-is home sales in your area. HomeLight’s agent matching service analyzes over 27 million transactions and thousands of reviews to determine which agent is best for you based on your needs.

How to Sell a House As-Is: Skip Repairs and Move On!

selling a house as is

Though not always necessary, using a real estate agent with experience in "as is" sales might be beneficial. They understand the small details of these transactions and may have valuable advice for listing the property and attracting potential buyers. When marketing a house being sold as-is, be transparent about its condition in your listings and promotional materials. Highlight any unique features or potential opportunities the property offers.

But How do You Establish a Baseline Market Value?

In addition to the emotional and psychological benefits of stability and community connection, financially, long-term owners can benefit from substantial equity growth. This equity can serve as a significant financial resource for future investments or as a cushion in retirement. This is the absolute worst position to be in when selling an as-is home. You shouldn’t compromise on the excitement your property can generate in the market just because you’ve chosen the as-is route. Selling your home as-is doesn’t require you to publicly advertise it that way. IBuyer companies are also known to collaborate with agents using this approach.

Is selling a home “as is” a good thing for buyers?

But if you don’t have the time or money to spend on home repairs, selling as is might be your best bet to help you focus on your next adventures. At this point, you’re probably scratching your head wondering, Should I sell my house as is? A list of the pros and cons can be a big help in answering that question. So you’re thinking of selling your house, and you’d like to just move out and move on! But it’s got problems—like a leaky roof, finicky plumbing, or maybe a 1970s kitchen with ugly orange cabinets. Once you agree on terms, the sale can proceed as usual, with the buyer securing any required financing, signing the legal documents and closing the sale.

Here is a Quick Check List to Help you Get Things in Order:

But some have consequences that many home sellers are not aware of. This may minimize surprises and negotiations with the buyer, which can result in a smoother path to closing the sale. There can be substantial benefits to listing your house in its existing state. That’s why it’s crucial to remain open to dialogue with buyers and always be clear and transparent in your communications. Many homeowners aren’t properly educated about selling a home as-is.

As such, a certain number of “low ball” offers are an inevitability. Yet even in states that acknowledge “as is” language, other disclosure requirements still need to be followed. For example, most states hold the seller liable for any failure (intentional or unintentional) to reveal “known” defects.

Including this clause is also a method some homeowners might use to try and expedite the selling process. Checking your local regulations may help clarify the necessary disclosures required in an “as is” sale. Selling as-is can be an attractive option for sellers who don’t have the time, funds, or desire to make repairs. However, it’s important to disclose known issues honestly to potential buyers to maintain transparency and avoid legal complications.

Many banks refuse to finance a property until their conditions are met, which often include repairs. The "as is" clause works by informing the buyer that the property will come in its existing condition and the seller will not be responsible for any repairs or modifications. By moving forward with the “as is” clause, the buyer acknowledges and agrees to this. It takes just two minutes to match clients with the best real estate agents, who will contact you and guide you through the process. To connect with an agent, simply tell us a little bit about your property and how soon you’re looking to sell. Even if a buyer is willing to buy a house as-is, they can still have an inspection and decide not to buy the property if issues arise that weren’t listed on the seller’s disclosure.

In other words, when you sell as-is, the buyer gets the property exactly how they initially saw it. Below are a few frequently asked questions about selling a house as is. Let’s take a look at the benefits and disadvantages of selling a house as is. You’ll want to look at what similar as-is homes and similar move-in ready homes are worth in your area. If there’s a big gap between the two numbers, it wouldn’t hurt to get quotes from some contractors and see about those repairs. If you know your home needs major repairs and you want a fast and convenient sale, it may be better to sell as-is. But if time is on your side and you can afford to make repairs, you might sell your home for more if you invest in rehabbing it. Using an iBuyer allows you to sell your home quickly without needing to stage it. Just keep in mind that, in most cases, iBuyers charge sellers a service fee that’s around 5% of the sale price.

What is Descriptive Research Design?

descriptive design

Simon et al. (2015) used a qualitative descriptive design to identify the perspectives of seriously ill, older patients and their families on the barriers and facilitators to advance care planning. The authors provided a rationale for using a descriptive design, which was to gain a deeper understanding of the phenomenon under investigation. Data were gathered through nine open-ended questions on a researcher-administered questionnaire. Three categories were developed that identified personal beliefs, access to doctors and interaction with doctors as the central barriers and facilitators to advance care planning. The use of a qualitative descriptive design facilitated the development of a schematic based on these three themes, which provides a framework for use by clinicians to guide improvement in advance care planning. As previously identified, a further challenge with the use of qualitative descriptive methods is that as a research design it has limited visibility in research texts and methodological papers (Kim et al., 2017).

Descriptive research focuses on providing a detailed and accurate account of a specific situation, group, or phenomenon. It aims to describe the characteristics, behaviors, or relationships within the given context. Descriptive research typically involves collecting data through surveys, observations, or existing records and analyzing the data to generate descriptive statistics or narratives.

The trustworthiness of the study

This design is particularly useful when the differences in exposure between individuals within a group are much smaller than the differences in exposure between groups. For instance, the intake of particular food items is likely to vary less between people in a particular group but can vary widely across groups, for example, people living in different countries. A descriptive study is one that is designed to describe the distribution of one or more variables, without regard to any causal or other hypothesis.

Data Analysis Methods

The descriptive-analysis method of research describes a subject by further analyzing it, which in this case involves dividing it into 2 parts. For example, the HR personnel of a company that wishes to analyze the job role of each employee of the company may divide the employees into the people that work at the Headquarters in the US and those that work from Oslo, Norway office. Descriptive research is a type of research that describes a population, situation, or phenomenon that is being studied. It focuses on answering the how, what, when, and where questions If a research problem, rather than the why. This research method takes a problem with little to no relevant information and gives it a befitting description using qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Examples of Descriptive Research

Similarly, lacking encouragement in professional development, nurses are unable to cultivate pride or confidence, or envision their future. Sandelowski (2010) argues that although descriptive research produces findings that are ‘data-near’, they are nevertheless interpretative. Although it is important to ensure those familiar with the topic under investigation can recognise their experiences in the description of it (Kim et al., 2017), this is not to say that there should be no transformation of data. Researchers using a qualitative descriptive design need to, through data analysis, move from un-interpreted participant quotations to interpreted research findings, which can still remain ‘data-near’ (Sandeklwoski, 2010). Willis et al. (2016) suggest that researchers using the qualitative descriptive method might report a comprehensive thematic summary as findings, which moves beyond individual participant reports by developing an interpretation of a common theme.

In cross-sectional studies, the validity of results is highly dependent on whether the study sample is well representative of the population proposed to be studied, and whether all the individual measurements were made using an accurate and identical tool, or not. If the information on a variable cannot be obtained accurately, for instance in a study where the participants are asked about socially unacceptable (e.g., promiscuity) or illegal (e.g., substance use) behavior, the results are unlikely to be reliable. If these data are analyzed only to determine the distribution of one or more variables, these are “descriptive.” However, often, in a cross-sectional study, the investigator also assesses the relationship between the presence of an exposure and that of an outcome. Such cross-sectional studies are referred to as “analytical” and will be discussed in the next article in this series. The main purpose of descriptive research design is to describe and measure the characteristics of a population or phenomenon in a systematic and objective manner. It involves collecting data that describe the current status or condition of the population or phenomenon of interest, without manipulating or altering any variables.

Support

If the research problem isn’t formulated well, then the data collected may not be entirely reliable. Researchers aiming to conduct market research using this research design should leverage integrated market research software. It will enable them to conduct product, customer, brand, and market research using suitable channels. Descriptive research involves the collection of quantifiable and systematic data that can be used for the statistical analysis of the research problem. You don't need our permission to copy the article; just include a link/reference back to this page.

Throughout the interviews, the author demonstrated respect and empathy toward the participants by openly sharing her own feelings. Additionally, she skilfully guided the discussions to extract the participants’ experiences, concurrently undergoing a process of reintegration in tandem with them. Conversely, the dynamic between the interviewer and participants could be impacted by the assumptions and biases inherent in the interviewer’s background. To mitigate this potential influence, data analysis was performed independently by two researchers (refer to the Data Analysis section). The qualitative descriptive approach produces “findings closer to the data as given, or data-near” [38, p. 78], without commitment to any theoretical views and without being bounded by preconceptions [38].

Applications of Descriptive Research Design

Nevertheless, the participants in this study successfully overcame numerous challenges and navigated the journey of reintegration. This experience of triumph and the acquisition of new knowledge and skills enabled them to regain the confidence they had in their previous career. Reflecting on their hard work and learning trajectory also instilled a sense of professional growth. Possessing confidence and a sense of self-worth has enhanced their self-efficacy, which, in turn, has promoted affective organizational commitment [56] and work engagement [57].

In fact, only a limited number of studies have endeavored to identify factors that facilitate the retention of inactive nurses. The key findings facilitating their retention were preceptors fulfilling their learning needs [28, 31], support on nursing units [31], flexible working atmosphere [28], and re-building a new family life [28] or re-negotiation with both work and home life [36]. Nevertheless, these studies are based on a relatively small sample of five to eight nurses who have returned to practice, thus leaving the possibility that some factors remain undiscovered. Face-to-face or online semi-structured interviews were conducted, and qualitative inductive analysis was employed to analyze the collected data.

Instead, it focuses on providing a detailed and accurate representation of the data collected, which can be useful for generating hypotheses, exploring trends, and identifying patterns in the data. Because of the exploratory nature of descriptive design, the triangulation of multiple sources of data are often used for additional insight into the phenomenon. Sources of data that can be used in descriptive studies are similar to those that may be used in other qualitative designs and include interviews, focus groups, documents, artifacts, and observations. Arguments supporting the flexible nature of descriptive designs describe it as being preferable to forcing a research approach into a design that is not quite appropriate for the nature of the intended study. However, descriptive design has also been criticized for this mixing of methods as well as for the limited literature describing it.

A cross-sectional study is a type of observational study that involves gathering information on various variables at the individual level at a given point in time. Annemarie Brady (PhD, MSc, BNS, RNT, RPN) is Chair of Nursing and Chronic Illness and Head of School of Nursing and Midwifery at Trinity College Dublin. Her research work has focused on the development of healthcare systems and workforce solutions to respond to increased chronic illness demands within healthcare. This paper provides an overview of qualitative descriptive research, orientates to the underlying philosophical perspectives and key characteristics that define this approach and identifies the implications for healthcare practice and policy. A descriptive study design’s statistical capabilities allow researchers to track data trends over time.

descriptive design

Choosing the appropriate research design for a study is crucial to the success of the study. Moreover, researchers should choose a design that best fits the research question and the type of data needed to answer it. Descriptive research often requires a large amount of data collection and analysis, which can be time-consuming and resource-intensive. The primary purpose of descriptive research is to describe the characteristics, behaviors, and attributes of a particular population or phenomenon. The research will provide a more accurate picture of a population’s demographic makeup and help to understand changes over time in areas like population age, health and education level.

You need to have answers to the “what,” “when,” “how,” and “where” before you can understand the “why.” This is where descriptive research comes in. Surveys help create better policies and cross-sectional studies help us understand problems affecting different populations including diseases. Used in the right context, descriptive research can advance knowledge and inform decision making¹. Margaret McCann (PhD, MSc, BNS, RNT, RGN) is an Assistant Professor in General Nursing at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin.

This means that novice qualitative researchers have little guidance on how to design and implement a descriptive study as there is a lack of a ‘methodological rulebook’ to guide researchers (Kahlke, 2014). Despite the widespread use of descriptive approaches within nursing research, there is limited methodological guidance about this type of design in research texts or papers. This suggests there is a need to have more discussion about how and why descriptive approaches to qualitative research are used.

The patient's parents are quizzing her on seamanship. When they have to leave the room, Masters agrees to take over. She tells her she hasn't been on a boat since she was a 13 year old freshman in college. Thirteen says it's not possible, but Masters suggests giving her a stress test - it will only take half-an-hour.
